A Walk Down Memory Lane

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the children of some of my friends, Phil & Amy, from grad school. Back in the day, after a big round of tests, or meeting a big deadline, Phil could throw quite the party. (The 80's party was my personal favorite...if only I had photos from that event handy!)

Two adorable kiddos later, Phil & Amy may have settled down a bit, but we still have a blast with their family. And, my own Alex has quite the crush on Logan!

And you can see why, right?? He's a cutie!
When the sibling shots turn out to be some of the best in the bunch, I think that says a lot about their relationship! As I was editing these photos, I thought about another session we did together just about this time a year ago. Amy had a wonderful idea to document Lauren's first day of Kindergarten. It's amazing to see how much Miss Lauren has grown up in just one short year!
Okay, from this perspective, school looks like a pretty imposing place for such a little thing...But Lauren was ready to take it on. Wow, it's hard to imagine my little one taking this walk in a couple of years!Okay, it's storming pretty hard out, and there have been some pretty big "boom booms," as Alex calls them. So maybe I better shut down the computer for the night. More tomorrow!

Senior Style!

I had such a blast with this session. This was my first senior to shoot in a while - and it felt great to get back in it! (Actually, the beautiful Natalie is not exactly a senior - she graduated this past May and will be heading off to college before the end of the month!) Don't get me wrong, I love shooting all my sweet babies and energetic toddlers, but it is a lot of fun to work with seniors and put kind of a fashion flair on their session.

We began the session with Natalie's graduation gown. Natalie is a graduate of Ursuline, where all the girls wear white gowns and carry a dozen red roses. Can you imagine what a beautiful sight that is?

To top it off, Natalie is as sweet as she is pretty, so she was a pleasure to work with, too!

To wrap this entry up, I want to wish Natalie all the best as she heads off to college. I have no doubt there are great things in Natalie's future!

Miss Ruby!

Wow, I have got some catching up to do on the blog! I have had so many fun sessions the last week or so - I have a ton to share, so check back often.

First up is Miss Ruby. I photographed her as a newborn and was so excited to see what an adorable roly poly she has turned into at 7 months! And I loved these sweet little ruffle bloomers...

Doesn't she look proud of her two little teeth?
I imagine these cheeks get kissed a lot!
Back to editing sessions for now, but I'll be back tomorrow with more to share!

Baby Loves Disco - July Gallery Available

Well, the July edition of Baby Loves Disco was just as big of a hit as the debut party in June. As you can see by the photos below, the dance floor was packed and a great time was had by all! To view more fun photos from the event, and to order prints of your little Disco Diva or Mambo King, check out www.karenfishphotography.com/photocart. Once you have logged in, just use "bld2" as the access code.

This past event was especially fun for me, as my little girl got to come, too! Daddy brought her up to enjoy the festivities. I was a little worried that she wouldn't be happy that she didn't get all of my attention while I was working, but that was not an issue at all. Turns out she is fascinated by yoga! A really sweet instructor from Just Breathe Yoga was at the event conducting mini-classes from their Itsy Bitsy Yoga series. My husband said Alex just kept asking to go back to the yoga again and again. Here she is getting herself into "tree pose." (For more information on Itsy Bitsy Yoga, see their link to the right.)

After all that fun and excitement, Baby Loves Disco will take a break in August, but will be back in full swing in September. See their website (link to the right) for all the details!

A Newborn to Share

I know you have heard me say that newborns are among my favorite subjects. Take a look at this precious little bundle, and you will see why! He was so sweet and content during most of our session, particularly while we had him all snuggled into these soft, warm blankets.

And with Big Brother...By the way, these sibling shots are really tough to get, even when the older child is very sweet and excited to be a big brother like Bear was! So if you find yourself in this situation and your toddler is not cooperating, please don't get frustrated - it happens to everyone! Well, almost everyone...I think the only time I got the sibling shots with total ease was a couple of years ago when my precious little client (and friend), Avery, became a big sister. She sat politely on the couch and waited patiently while her mom put her baby brother in her lap and I clicked away! But this doesn't really count - we lovingly refer to Avery as the perfect child!

Okay, enough rambling for now...I've got photos to edit!

Fruit Salad...Yummy Yummy....

...sorry, but that's what's playing through my head as I'm editing sessions tonight. We took Alex to her first concert today - you guessed it, The Wiggles! I have to admit, I actually got excited when the big red car started rolling out on stage. As goofy as they are, those guys put on a good show. They had the kids dancing in the aisles. Alex was so awe-struck by the event, however, that she sat wide-eyed in our laps almost the entire show. She did warm up for the second to last song and danced to Hot Potato, Hot Potato. (I sincerely apologize if I just got that song stuck in your head!)

No photos to share from that big event. I left my big camera at home because I had read all kinds of stipulations online that the venue had about photography (no flash, no zoom lenses, so lenses longer than 3.5 inches, no interchangeable lenses, yada yada yada). Of course, once the show got going, there were all kinds of cameras flashing everywhere...so much for rules! So we got out the point and shoot to grab a couple of pics, but haven't downloaded those yet.

But, I won't leave you with no new photos to see! These are a few more in my new studio space.

Meet Jack. Don't you just want to eat him up roll by sweet little roll!?!
