I wanted to wait until it was official to share the news, but I am thrilled to announce that Karen Fish Photography now has studio space...other than my living room, that is! I found this great space on Lower Greenville that is shared by a handful of portrait and wedding photographers. (And it's a nice bonus that it is less than a mile from my house!) The studio takes up a large portion of the second story of a neat old building a few blocks south of Belmont. It has a great set up for backdrops and top-notch lighting equipment, but the bonus is a wonderful natural light shooting area as well, with exposed brick and hardwood floors. And this is really some of the prettiest natural light I have had the pleasure of shooting with in a long time. (Okay, my husband laughs at me when I get this excited about light, but it's what I do!)
So, to celebrate, I'm making a special offer. All regular in-studio sessions for the month of August are just $75 (rather than the regular $125 sitting fee). Please contact me soon to secure your appointment - August is already booking up, particularly on the weekends!
A few evenings ago, we took Alex up to the studio so I could experiment. Her window of cooperation was very short - it was approaching 7pm and the poor child hadn't eaten dinner, so I guess I asked for this meltdown! But before the meltdown, I did manage to capture some cute shots that can give you a feel for the natural light area. She didn't last long enough for me to experiment with the backdrops, too, but we'll head back for that another time!
I had my first client session in the studio this afternoon - with the most adorable little 3 month-old. He had the biggest, most kissable cheeks I have seen in a long time! I don't have those photos to post yet, but check back soon!

A Few More Favorites
I couldn't resist sharing just a few more favorites from the beach!
Alex in her sun hat. Before the trip, Grammy let Alex pick the buttons she wanted on her hat!
A Daddy-Daughter moment. You may not be able to see them in this picture, but you have no idea what it took to get those pigtails in...Aunt Corrie to the rescue!
I love this image that Bryan caught of me & Alex enjoying the dolphins. This is at the Corpus Christi Aquarium. Which, by the way, is a great attraction if any of you are taking kiddos to the area this summer. It provided a nice break from the sun and the sand, and the kids had a blast.
I set my alarm the last morning we were there so I could go out and catch the sunrise. It was early, and the bugs were biting, but it was worth it - quite a sight!

Back From the Beach!
We just returned last night from a wonderful vacation with my in-laws (thanks, again, Grammy & Paw Paw!) to Port Aransas, TX. We had not taken Alex on a big trip yet, so this held many "firsts" for her....
Her first time to fly! She had a ball watching planes come in with her Daddy & cousin before it was our turn to board.
Her first Seagull sighting - up close and personal! (Unfortunately, I had an encounter with a Seagull that was a little too personal while I was lounging by the pool one day, but I'll spare you the details!)
And, of course, her first experience squishing sand between her toes...
...which quickly led to the discovery that she is more of a pool-girl than a beach-girl! She did venture into the sand a few times, and even let Daddy carry her out to jump some little waves at one point, but for the most part, she really enjoyed splashing in the baby pool we set up under our canopy. (By the way, if you are planning a trip to the beach with little ones, you may want to consider this. A friend had shared this tip with my mother-in-law and it worked out really well. We just filled buckets from the ocean and poured them into the little pool each day. Even Alex's cousin, Grant, who enjoyed the sand and ocean more liked taking little breaks in the baby pool.)
That's all for now. You know how vacations are...they are wonderful while you're there, but come Monday, you've got to get back to work! I'm sure I'll have a few more to share soon, though!

Baby Loves Disco Gallery Available!
It's ready! The gallery for the first Baby Loves Disco event is live. You can view and order prints at www.karenfishphotography.com/photocart. Once you have logged into the site, type "bld1" as the event code. Browse through the thumbnails to find photos of your own little cutie, and enjoy the fun pics of the other little partiers along the way! The online ordering system should walk you through everything, but please feel free to contact me (karen@karenfishphotography.com) if you have any questions.
I hope I captured at least one fun photo of all the children - with all the different activities there were, though, I'm afraid I may have missed some. If I missed your little guy or gal, I do apologize. Please don't hesitate to flag me down at the next event and make sure I get a shot!
Also, at the event I talked to several of you who were interested in a portrait session. If you would like to see samples of my portrait work, view the galleries on my main site.
Enjoy!

Welcome Baby Kareena
I'm sorry I've neglected my new blog for a few days - the long holiday weekend had us hoppin'! I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th celebrations. We consumed way too much ice cream, but what better way to spend the weekend? Bryan actually broke out the ice cream maker and made several batches of homemade yogurt and ice cream - with lots of help from Alex, of course.
But now that things are settling back down, I wanted to take a moment to share a few photos of this little delight! Little Kareena (or Coco as her mom calls her) was very eager to join this world, coming a few weeks early. So even though she was 5 weeks old when we photographed her, she was still a petite little thing at around 7 lbs! But don't let her size fool you - she's a strong one. She got her legs going and nearly pushed herself right out of one of my baskets!
She was such a doll to work with. Here are just a couple of the sweet shots we captured...
